​ Seerat un Nabi ﷺ In reality, the Mushrikeen of Makkah and Arabia did not consider these idols to be the true God. They believed that Allah alone is the only true deity. They considered these idols as intercessors in the court of Allah, and they venerated and worshipped these idols with the belief that they would bring them closer to Allah. Secondly, they believed that these idols possessed some of the divine attributes, powers and strengths, but nevertheless, they still considered Allah as the true Provider and Owner. In fact, a Mushrik is one who believes in Allah and then associates partners with Him in His Being, Attributes, or Worship. As a result of these polytheistic beliefs, the Mushrikeen of Makkah became badly afflicted with superstition. They would take good and bad omens from everything, and to avoid bad omens, they would seek the services of soothsayers (Kahins). ​ Seerat-un-Nabi ﷺ:  Episode 7 - Al-Ma'rifat  The Idols Worshipped by Arabs at the Time of the Blessed Birth ﷺ At the time of the blessed birth of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the Arabs and especially the polytheists of Makkah considered the following idols as very important: 1. Hubal Hubal was one of the most important idols of the Mushrikeen of Makkah. In reality, it was the deity "Ba'al" of the people of Syria, which means "Powerful", and which the Arabs distorted and named Hubal. This idol was found by the Quraish of Makkah in the form of a human statue carved from red agate. Its right hand was broken, which the Quraish of Makkah replaced with one made of gold. ​ When Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) built the Kaaba together with Hazrat Ismail (AS), through his preaching, the tribes of Jurhum and Qatura accepted the Deen-e-Ibrahimi and accepted Allah as the One God. Seerat-un-Nabi ﷺ  Episode No. 4 --- Seerat-un-Nabi ﷺ  > Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with the People of the Elephant? Did He not make their plot go astray? Allah sent upon them flocks of birds (Ababeel) which threw pebbles at them. Thus Allah made them like eaten straw. Surah Al-Feel (1-5) The incident of Ashab-ul-Feel happened in 571 AD - the year of the blessed birth of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. So, during a journey to Syria in this connection, he married a noble woman of Banu Najjar, Salma, but unfortunately during that same journey Hazrat Hashim passed away. Seerat-un-Nabi (SAW) In that era, a famous personality of Arabia was named Qusai bin Kilab. According to one narration, the title of Qusai bin Kilab was Quraish, due to which his progeny came to be called Quraishi, while according to another narration, six generations before Qusai bin Kilab, among the Bani Ismail there was an elder named "Fihr bin Malik" whose title was Quraish. Qusai bin Kilab bin Murrah bin Ka'b was the leader of the Quraish in Makkah. He liberated Makkah from the domination of Khuza'ah and gave honor to the Quraish after humiliation. Digging wells, serving the pilgrims of Baitullah Al-Haram, and reconstructing the Kaaba are among his prominent services.
