TAHAJJUD PRAYER

*Prayer of Tahajjud*

*📌The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would wake up at night, rub his eyes, and recite the last ten verses of Surah Al-Imran.(199 to 200)*

*📌When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stood for Tahajjud prayer, he would recite the dua e istiftah (Dua e tahajjud)after reciting the Takbeer e tehreema.*

*📌It is not necessary to sleep before the Tahajjud prayer, but it is better if you do.*

*📌The best time for Tahajjud prayer is the last part of the night.*

*📌For the Tahajjud prayer, it is good to stand for a long qiyam. If you do not know a long Surah, you can repeat a short Surah.*

*📌The time for Tahajjud prayer starts after the Isha prayer and lasts until before the Fajr adhan (call to prayer).*

**Benefits of Tahajjud:**

1. Goodness and blessings.
2. Refreshes the soul.
3. Healing from incurable diseases.

Imam Ibn Qayyim said, "tahajjud prayer at night is most beneficial for maintaining health, preventing many incurable diseases, and keeping the body, soul, and heart in balance."

4. Healing for the heart.

(Healing for the heart involves five things:
- Reflecting on the Quran
- Keeping the stomach empty
- Qiyaam al-Layl (standing in prayer at night)
- Helplessness before Allah at the time of sahoor
- Sitting with righteous people.)

5. Finding happiness for the heart.

6. Receiving sustenance.

7. Noor on the face.

8. Gaining people's love.

**Time for Tahajjud:**

After Isha until dawn.

**Best time to wake up:**

The Prophet was asked about the best time for night prayer. He said, "The best time for Qiyaam is in the last part of the night."

**Praying in the last part of the night:**

From the hadith, it is understood that whoever fears they cannot wake up in the last part of the night should perform Witr after Isha and then sleep. And whoever is confident they can wake up should pray Witr in the last part of the night.

**Waking up in the middle of the night:**

Aisha said that the Prophet would wake up from sleep before sahoor, having completed his night prayer.

**Prayer benefits during work:**

It gives relaxation time.

**Sunnah of Tahajjud:**

- Supplicating upon waking up.
- Reciting the last ten verses of Surah Al-Imran.
- Waking up in intervals.

**Ibn Abbas's Night Prayer:**

When the Prophet woke up at night, he performed ablution with miswak and recited the last ten verses of Surah Al-Imran. He then prayed two lengthy units of prayer, making long prostrations and rukus, and then slept. He did this three times each night.

**Minimum and maximum count:**

The night prayer is two rakats of prayer, and there is no fixed number. Each person should pray according to their capability.

**Method of performing rakahs:**

Recite in two units, and when there is fear of dawn, read the Witr prayer.

**Lengthy Quran recitation:**

The most virtuous prayer is one with prolonged standing. (Hadith)

**Prophet's recitation:**

The Prophet sometimes recited as much as "O you who wraps himself" and sometimes recited as much as twenty verses or fifty verses.

**Repeated recitation of a verse:**

Aisha said that the Prophet continuously recited one verse in his prayer.

**Prophet's recitation volume:**

The Prophet sometimes recited loudly and sometimes softly in his prayer. Avoid causing discomfort to someone who is sleeping or praying.

**Duas for Tahajjud:**

1. Asking for guidance.
2. Seeking Allah's protection for the refuge from shaytan.
3. Seeking forgiveness.
